Oriental Wind - Aroura Borealis (2014)

An excellent new album from the Turkish master of jazz percussion. Featuring an array of top musicians and performances from Önder Focan and Ozan Musluoğlu, among others.

This is very much in keeping musically with his earlier albums with a fusion of Anatolian, Sufi and Balkan tunes and elements of jazz and contemporary music, although this is on the whole more jazz oriented. Of particular note is the track "kabak" with some truly wonderful percussion. Highly recommended indeed for world / jazz fans.

Bjorn Jayson Lindh - Sissel (1973)

Superb album from 1973 by the swedish keyboard/ fluteplayer B J Lindh , featuring other luminaries such as Okay Temiz from Turkey on percussion, Lennart Arberg on Sax and Janne Schaffer on lead guitar.

Lindh's raspy Tull like Flute and Schaffers lead guitar are the highlights of this album. Check out below the title track Sissel where Schaffer plays a fantastic guitar solo near the end and Bull Dog whch features excellent flute work.

A very fine album with that typical swedish folksy sound but also with many east/west fusion elements.

Dark - Dark (1986)

A very esoteric recording from american drummer and percusionist "Mark Nauseef"

Joined by just a female vocalist "Catherine Guard" and bass payer "Mark London Sims" with another pecussionist and synth this is by no means as sparse sounding as it might seem. It's mostly very tripped out world fusion with strange atmospheres for the most part. The wordless vocal chants are quite captivating and on occasion resemble "Lisa Gerrard" of "Dead Can Dance"

A rare and highly impressive album with much uniqueness.
